The Orrville VFW Post is seeking charter applicants for membership in a
soon-to-be formed Men’s Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Members
of the community are invited to seek additional information if there is
any interest in becoming a charter member of the Men’s Auxiliary.
If you are a husband, widower, father, grandfather, son, grandson, brother
or half brother of a person who was or is eligible for membership in the
VFW, and you attained that status prior to age 16, you are eligible.
Members in the Men’s Auxiliary must be at least 16 years of age.
Basic VFW membership eligibility is through service to our country that
has earned our membership their elite status. Anyone who has received a
campaign medal for overseas service; has served 30 consecutive or 60
non-consecutive days in Korea; or has ever received hostile fire or
imminent danger pay, is eligible for membership in the VFW.
If you are interested and meet the relationship qualifications of anyone
who is or was eligible to join the VFW, contact us by clicking on the
Contact Us link in the top navigation bar to learn how you can become a
Charter Member and have your name printed on the Charter of the Men’s
Auxiliary of Post 3446 Veterans of Foreign Wars when it is issued later
this year.
We need to have twenty five applicants before we can apply for a charter.
To date, we have twenty eight men who have expressed a desire to be
charter members. We are currently accepting applications and processing
them to determine eligibility. This process will end when we have twenty
five verified applicants to submit with the charter application. We are
expecting to be able to submit the charter in late July, but will hold it
open for an additional two months to allow for verifying additional
applications.
Time is important, so contact the Post and begin the application process.
If your relative was or is a member of our Post, the verification process
takes only a few minutes. For those relatives who were never VFW members,
the verification requires either a DD-214 or a Standard Form 180 (SF 180).
Obtaining these forms could take several weeks. |
